YEAR END REFLECTIONS | EP 39

As I reflect back on the last few months of doing this podcast, I wanted to take some time today to let you know what I’ve learned since starting this podcast, look at the most listened to episodes, and also make mention of the episodes that impacted me the most.

IN THIS PODCAST:

  • My spiritual growth
  • The top 5 downloaded episodes in 2021
  • The episodes that impacted me the most 2021
  • My plans for 2022

My spiritual growth

Even though I only launched this podcast in April of this year, my journey started in October 2020 and the thing that surprised me when I hit that record button is the intense and huge spiritual growth that I went through.

But more than that, I am still very passionate about providing a space to journey alongside you as a listener in your own spiritual journey and spiritual growth. And that’s my passion, and I have loved it. (Dawn Gabriel)

The top downloaded 5 episodes in 2021

I am so excited to share this list with you and highly recommend that you go back and listen to these episodes if you haven’t already:

  1. HOW PAIN AND DOUBT CAN BE INSTRUMENTAL FOR YOUR FAITH | EPISODE 5
  2. WHITNEY OWENS ON WHEN A PAINFUL EXPERIENCE WITH THE CHURCH IMPACTS YOUR PROFESSION | EPISODE 7
  3. HOW TO DECONSTRUCT YOUR FAITH WITHOUT LOSING IT COMPLETELY WITH ERIN MOON | EPISODE 29
  4. WHAT IS SPIRITUAL DIRECTION? WITH STEPHEN AND JOCELYN HEAD | EPISODE 13
  5. WHY NAMING YOUR RELIGIOUS TRAUMA IS SO IMPORTANT WITH JENN FREDETTE | EPISODE 8

My hope is to be a spiritual companion to you as you listen, and help engage your curiosity, and help engage your spiritual growth. And so, thank you for listening. (Dawn Gabriel)

The episodes that impacted me the most in 2021

I have also been really impacted by all the guests I have had on the Faith Fringes Podcast. They have shown me such kindness and generosity and I have learned so much from them.

This is a list of my favorite episodes:

  1. WHAT IS SPIRITUAL DIRECTION? WITH STEPHEN AND JOCELYN HEAD | EPISODE 13
  2. KENT DENLINGER ON SPIRITUAL COMPANIONSHIP | EPISODE 24
  3. EXPLORING FAITH WITHIN THE THERAPY ROOM WITH AARON POTRATZ, LPC AND NATHAN HAWKINS, LPC | EPISODE 20
  4. SOUL CARE FOR THERAPISTS WITH JANE CARTER: SOUL CARE SERIES PART 3 OF 4 | EPISODE 34
  5. WHY HELPERS NEED TO INVEST IN THEIR OWN SELF-CARE WITH WILLIAM HEMPHILL, II, LAPC | EPISODE 16
  6. GORDON BREWER ON SPIRITUAL FORMATION | EP 36
  7. JULIA HURLOW ON HOW PHYSICAL PAIN CAN SURPRISINGLY BRING YOU TO AUTHENTIC COMMUNITY | EPISODE 6

Looking at the list I realize that I am no longer in the deconstruction phase anymore. Of course, I am always curious, I’m always questioning and that’s fine, but I’m not in a deconstruction phase. I now find myself to be in the reconstruction, spiritual formation, and spiritual direction phase.

My plans for 2022

I did a 4-part series on soul care and I think this is very important – this is the direction I see myself going next year with this podcast.

During this holiday period, I am going to take some time to reflect on this podcast and I want to pray about the direction it will go in the new year, but I have a feeling that it will be more about soul care and spiritual formation.

Have a wonderful holiday season and I can’t wait to see you back here next year!
